Take your orchid care beyond bark with SYBAStones Orchid Mineral Mix—a mineral-based, soilless substrate engineered for optimal root health, long-term stability, and blooming success. Designed for epiphytic orchids like Phalaenopsis, Dendrobium, and Oncidium, this mix delivers the structure, drainage, and air circulation these plants need, without the compaction or pests that come with organic bark.
Formulated with a slow-release orchid fertiliser that lasts up to 120 days, this mix offers everything your orchid needs to settle in, root fast, and bloom beautifully—right out of the bag. No need to feed during the first four months. After that, simply top up with one of our slow-release fertilisers when the time is right.
Bark-based orchid substrates break down quickly, hold excess moisture, and become a breeding ground for fungus gnats. SYBAStones Orchid Mineral Mix skips organic matter altogether in favour of long-lasting minerals like pumice, lava rock, and zeolite—giving you a clean, reliable foundation for healthy growth.
This substrate regulates moisture, maintains air pockets, and supports your orchid’s natural rhythm—so roots can breathe and blooms can thrive.
The 1–5 mm grain size is designed specifically for average orchid root systems. It strikes the perfect balance between stability and airflow, allowing roots to anchor securely while avoiding rot and moisture buildup. And thanks to the built-in slow-release orchid fertiliser, you can skip feeding for the first 120 days.
Each mineral does the work:
Together, they offer a premium orchid substrate that simplifies care while delivering professional results.
Thanks to the added slow-release fertiliser, there’s no need to add extra nutrients during the first four months. After that, you can continue your care with:
Sybotanica’s slow-release fertiliser range to maintain low-maintenance nutrition
Avoid using additional fertiliser before the 120-day mark to prevent overfeeding or nutrient buildup.
Whether you're a beginner with a windowsill orchid or a collector with dozens in bloom, SYBAStones Orchid Mineral Mix offers a cleaner, longer-lasting, and more effective way to grow. Say goodbye to soggy bark, root rot, and constant repotting—this is a smarter system for long-term success.
Use it in transparent pots for easy root monitoring, or combine with a self-watering setup for even easier care. The substrate won’t break down or compact over time, meaning less repotting and more flowers.
SYBAStones Orchid Mineral Mix is part of our mineral substrate series, created to eliminate the most common frustrations orchid lovers face. After years of testing, refining, and experimenting, we’ve developed a formula that keeps orchids happy for the long haul—with less effort on your part.
If you're looking for a bloom-ready, pest-free, low-maintenance way to grow orchids the smart way—SYBAStones Orchid Mineral Mix is it.
If the pot is differently shaped (Square, oval, e.t.c.), the calculations might not be accurate. You can also check out the plant pots product pages to check their total volume.

With soilless mixes there is no chance of soil-borne pests, such as fungus gnats, root lice or mould.
Since this mix is based on stones, there is no degrading soil or compaction risk. Making these stones endlessly reusable.
In combination with a selfwatering pot, this makes plant care and watering easier for you! Easily check the water level of the waterreservoir. And no more worries about over or underwatering your plants!
Both hydroponics fertilisers as slow release osmocote fertilisers can be used with our SYBAStones mix.
Our other SYBAStones Orchid already contain fertiliser for up to 4 months, so no extra fertiliser is needed until after 4 months of using the mix.
Yes, the SYBAStones Orchid itself is natural (not certified). However the slow release fertilisers are not. To ensure these fertilisers are of high quality and release nutrients slowly it is not possible to produce them naturally.
Our Orchid Slow Release Plant Food that is added to this mix lasts for ~4 months.

Yes, growing in SYBAStones works a bit differently from using regular soil. Watering, fertilising, and transplanting all follow new rules.
It’s a great method, but not every plant is a fan. Always check if your plant is suited for semi-hydro. More info below.
Got a cutting grown in water? You can plant it directly into SYBAStones. For soil-grown plants, it's best to remove all old soil before transplanting, especially if you've had fungus gnat issues. Clean roots are key.
Our slow-release fertilisers (not organic) are made for SYBAStones and other semi-hydro setups.
Rinse the mix before use. Some dust can form during transport, which is totally normal and easy to wash off.
These mixes are allergen-free thanks to their stone-based composition.
Noticed a smell or slimy texture after transplanting? A few things could be going on:
If you're sure the roots were clean or you're using a water cutting, the issue might be from dead plant material. Flush the pot thoroughly to rinse it out.
If the problem continues, inspect the roots. Some plants don't adapt well to mineral substrates and might not make the switch.
We recommend to use a self-watering plant pot!
You can use a water reservoir pot with your SYBAStones to create a semi hydroponics set up.
Most plants that love moist soils will appreciate this, such as aroids, calatheas, marantha, ficus, dieffenbachia, anthuriums and alocasias.
However for cacti & succulents, and other plants preferring dry soils, this is not recommended as these plants do not appreciate having moist roots all the time. Use a regular pot with drainage holes.
